At the end of a huge week - a player reminded me why we should keep going...

It's been a while since I've posted on this blog - but writing this from our pop up store on a Friday afternoon after a massive week, I felt like I had to get this down.

It's been a tiring week. This week we've confirmed the date of our first production run (fingers crossed!), I've visited high performance coaches, met with AFLW and W-league players, been in some of the most respected professional clubs in the country, and met with some incredible women in sports administration.

I also had a community level player travel over an hour and a half to come visit us in our store in RMIT - and she's really who inspired this post.

I'm not going to lie - this has been such a challenging project to take on. As a startup with a real drive to make a difference to women in sport, at times it can feel like you are moving in slow motion.

Add in the fact that your co-founder has just had a baby and moved back overseas and it can feel really isolating - like you're crazy for wanting to take on these billion dollar giants.

Then a player comes in and reminds you why you are doing this in the first place.

Here's what she had to say:

"At times we've been laughed at, had sexist comments thrown at us... and it hurts. When all you want to do is play footy... you feel like you don't deserve that kind of treatment. To know someone is out there that believes in us, is designing this for us... it means a lot."

She smiled so much she said her cheeks hurt - she loved the boots and how she felt in them. It was so amazing to see.

Thinking back to last January when Laura and I only had an idea, this was a massive reminder of how far we've come and how far we've got to go.

I still feel restless, I still wish I could do more sooner, but for now I'm proud of what we've achieved and what's ahead of us in 2020.
